Vegan-Friendly Inks & Materials

Greeting Card Printing • For artists, illustrators & photographers

Yes — our greeting cards are printed using inks with a vegan declaration.

The digital press we use for greeting card printing uses inks and consumables that are confirmed to contain no animal products or by-products (certified by the Vegan Society).

If you’re creating cards for a vegan audience (or you simply prefer cruelty-free materials), this page explains exactly what we can confirm about the inks and materials used in our greeting card printing — with links to official declarations where available.

What we mean by “vegan-friendly” here

“Vegan-friendly” can mean slightly different things depending on how materials are sourced and manufactured. On this page, we focus on what we can evidence and confirm, rather than making assumptions or vague claims.

Specifically, this page covers:

  • Printing inks/consumables used on our Konica digital press for greeting cards

  • Envelope glues supplied with our greeting card orders

  • Card media (your chosen card stock options)

  • Protective sleeves (including a biodegradable option)

Important note on manufacturing environments

The inks used for our greeting cards are declared vegan. As with many manufacturing environments, facilities may also produce non-vegan products. The declaration we link to includes wording about minimising cross-contamination as far as reasonably practicable.

If cross-contamination risk is a key requirement for your brand, we recommend reading the declaration PDF and contacting us with your specific needs.

Quick FAQs

Are your greeting card printing inks vegan-friendly?

Our Konica digital printing press used for card printing comes with a declaration from Konica that the manufacture and development of the products and their ingredients do not and have not involved the use of any animal product, by-product or derivative (certified by the Vegan Society). You can read the declaration here: artwork/Vegan-Declaration-Cross-Contamination.pdf

Is envelope glue vegan-friendly?

We have been informed by our envelope supplier that all glues used come from vegetable, plant-based products.

Does “vegan-friendly” mean zero chance of cross-contamination?

Not necessarily. The declaration includes wording about striving to minimise cross-contamination from animal substances used in other (non vegan) products, as far as reasonably practicable. If your requirements are strict, please read the PDF and contact us with details.

Which card stock should I choose for artwork vs photography?

As a starting point: smooth matt is a popular all-rounder for illustration and typography; textured matt can add a tactile feel that suits painted or hand-drawn work; glossy can suit punchy colour and photo-heavy designs. If you’re unsure, try a sample pack to compare finishes.
